R.R. Kraft van Ermel
R.R. Kraft van Ermel started training Kempo Kuntao at the age of 4 with his father, who teached after the war at Hwa Chiauw (Kung Fu Hwe Shantung Chien) School in Jakarta Indonesia. He got lessons in the two styles: the Long (dragon) and the Fu (tiger), which originate from several Shantung styles. In these styles his father had enjoyed an education before WW II at the Ho Hap- and the San Ban Hin School in Semarang, Indonesia. Later it became an aggregation of the Long- and the Fu- style. R.R. Kraft van Ermel himself has also enjoyed lessons from the well-known master Lo Ban Teng from Jakarta of the Fu Kien style, who is also linked to the Hwa Chiauw School.
In the 60’s R.R. Kraft van Ermel also trained by sifu G.K.Meijers and sifu C. Faulhaber. The sons of C. Faulhaber and the several teachers of the early days such as: Paatje Andersen, R. Claese and C. Bax, are still part of his group of friends. |

After starting up several schools in the Netherlands and Belgium he stopped with teaching after his father died. Fortunately this stop was of short duration. In Harderwijk a school started under the name Long Fu Moon. The lessons are given in the traditional Shaolin Kempo- Kuntao, as it was also taught in the 60’s in the Netherlands, extended with knowledge obtained by R.R. Kraft van Ermel.
With the arrival of C Faulhaber in the Netherlands the birth of Kempo Kuntao was a fact!

Now several schools in the Netherlands are connected where this style is taught. Outside the Netherlands the style is spread in several countries within Europe and Asia. Beside giving and taking lessons, R.R. Kraft van Ermel is also very busy with extra-curricular activities such as the establishment of the SKB (Shaolin Kempo bond). He was 8 years President and for that he has been appointed a honourable member. Also he has several honoured titles of national and international sport organisations. Furthermore he cooperates closely with other organisations within the KAN (Kempo Association Netherlands), several schools within the Pencak Silat such as the sister school Manyang of Guru C.D. Kessing and the Kuntao organisation of Prof. Dr. A. Knust Graichen of the USA. At present he is board member of the I.K.K.O (International Kempo Kuntao Organisation) and he instructs the teachers within this organisation.
